Welcome Back!

By the end of class today, you will have chosen a portrait reference image (hold shift if resizing), created an Illustrator document with inspirational images in the paste board, and started to create “base” shapes and naming layers appropriately (“face base”, “face highlights”, “face shadows”, etc.).

Be brainstorming what creative element you want to add to your portrait (background, added imagery, clothing, invented colors, etc.).

Happy Friday!

Before you leave class, please make sure the following are posted to your online portfolio:

  1. Quote Posters (3)

  2. Logo Designs (4)

  3. Tutorial

If you are finished with your tutorial and have posted your projects, please spend the day brainstorming a person, pose, expression, colors, etc. for our vector portrait project we will begin on Monday. You can search “vector portrait” and look at various examples.

Self-portrait? Family member? Friend? Hero? Family Dog? Favorite athlete or musician?

Choose Your Own Tutorial

For our next project, you will choose a tutorial of your choice. Browse our class website for ideas that I have gathered or explore and find your own:

If you are finished, post your finished tutorial image along with the tutorial example.

In your post, write down all the new tools and effects that you had to use to complete the tutorial.

After you complete your post, you can either work on another tutorial, work on an independent project, or browse examples of our next project: Vector Portrait.
